On 28 October 2024, the 13th China Congress on Particle Technology (CCPT13) concluded successfully in Suzhou. The Chinese Society of Particuology, as the organizer, successfully brought together experts and scholars in the field of particle science to discuss new advances in particle monitoring technology. Palas® from Germany presented its innovative solutions in the field of particulate matter monitoring technology at the conference, which received a lot of attention from the experts and scholars attending the conference.
This conference is hosted by the Chinese Society of Particuology, co-organised by the Institute of Process Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Micro-Nano Bubbles Committee of the Chinese Society of Particle Science, and co-organised by the International Organization for Mesoscience and Soochow University. With the theme of ‘Gathering Great Wisdom of Particles, Enhancing New Productivity’, the conference focused on the progress of scientific and technological research and development in the field of particulate science, the trend of industrial revolution, and the growth of talents to carry out exchanges. This year’s conference was attended by more than 2,300 participants, with 5 conference presentations, more than 1,400 session presentations, and more than 200 poster presentations.
Palas® delivered excellent presentations at several sessions, sharing innovative knowledge on particle monitoring technology and products, and in-depth discussions with industry experts on the development trends and future opportunities of particle monitoring technology. Mr. Linus Wang, Sales Manager – Industry & Science of Palas® China in Session 6: Particles and Technologies for Oil and Gas Resources, shared “Opportunities and Challenges of Light Scattering Particle Measurement Technology for High Pressure Gas Measurement”. He gave a detailed presentation on the measurement of particle size distribution of particles in flammable and explosive gases at a pressure of 10 bar, as well as on-line measurement techniques to accomplish particle size distribution of particles at higher pressures (e.g. 50 bar), which aroused great interest from the participants.
Regarding the monitoring of aerosols at high temperatures and pressures, Mr. Jeff from Shanghai RFT, a Palas® partner, presented “An Aerosol Characterization Device for High Temperature and High Pressure Conditions” in Session 23: Particle Metrology and Standardization, and shared his unique insights from different perspectives. He explained how Palas® could help users to measure the particle size distribution, mass concentration and number concentration of aerosol particles in-situ at operating conditions of up to 10 bar or 250°C in order to avoid bias in particle measurements due to non-isothermal and isobaric sampling.
The range of advanced particulate matter monitoring instruments displayed by Palas® attracted a lot of attention at the conference, with many industry experts stopping by to participate in the product demonstrations and learn more about the relevant technical introduction. Among them, the highlights of Palas® Promo® Pro Aerosol Particle Size Spectrometer, an ultra-high-pressure particulate matter online measurement solution, were included:
· Supports on-line measurements at upper pressure limits up to 60 bar
· In-situ isobaric pressure measurement without pressure-relief device
· 5μm – 40μm particle size measurement range
· Upper limit of particle number concentration up to 1,000,000 P/cm3
The Palas® Fidas® 200 Smart system, which uses the light scattering method, has demonstrated outstanding advantages in monitoring ambient air particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10) with its high accuracy and stability. The system has successfully passed the rigorous testing by the China National Environmental Monitoring Centre and obtained the test report issued by the Quality Inspection Office of the General Station, an achievement that demonstrates Palas®’s professional strength in the field of environmental monitoring. A live demonstration at booth A8 allowed attendees to experience first-hand the operating procedures and data monitoring capabilities of the Fidas® 200 Smart monitoring system.
Through these presentations and demonstrations, Palas® not only strengthens its ties with the particle industry, but also presents its expertise in the field of particulate matter monitoring. With the increasing demand for particle measurement technology in environmental monitoring and industrial production, Palas®’s innovative products and solutions are expected to bring more development opportunities to the industry.
