Palas® Aerosol Technology for Pandemic Prevention and Control

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the large flow of people and potential close contacts in major public places have brought forward higher requirements of pandemic prevention and control. To normalize prevention and control efforts, a training course on “Protection Technology and Monitoring in Public Places under Normalized Epidemic Prevention and Control”, jointly organized by public health and disease prevention authorities, took place in Hangzhou in October 2021. Palas® proudly joined this training to present AQ Guard, Fidas® Frog and Resp-Aer-Meter, attracting the interest of many experts in attendance for in-depth exchanges and discussions.

Palas® facilitates efforts to prevent and control the pandemic

During the meeting, Palas® shared information about protection standards, monitoring technology in public places, new developments in prevention and control measures, and normalized monitoring of key zones and populations, and held discussions with experts, scholars and front-line staff. Linus Wang, Sales Unit Manager Industry & Science at Palas® China, highlighted the topic “How does light scattering particle measurement tech help in epidemic”. He talked about different types of filtration efficiency and particle measurement equipment, and shared how a light scattering spectrometer can assist in rapidly screening super spreaders. Mr. Wang’s presentation on pandemic prevention and control led to a lively discussion among the experts.

Palas® accurate monitoring equipment

Palas® instruments are trusted by research institutes and researchers for data accuracy and consistent monitoring results. At the conference, Palas® presented a selection of products: The Palas® AQ Guard is used for continuous real-time monitoring of indoor air quality, a solution for monitoring airborne particulate matter. It measures fine dust particles in the range from 150 nm, including PM1, PM2.5, PM4, PM10, and TSP. It also displays air quality, infection risk as well as CO2 and TVOC concentrations. Palas® Fidas® Frog, a fine dust measurement device, provides the latest solution for airborne particle monitoring. Palas® Resp-Aer-Meter identifies potentially infectious persons (super spreaders) by fast and easy measurement of solid particle content in the exhaled air, delivering accurate measurement reports in 3 minutes and supporting subsequent analysis.

Palas® defends health

Palas® also actively participated in the recent Occupational Health Committee meeting to discuss and exchange new technologies and methods for occupational health protection with Committee members. Palas® offers a wide range of measurement solutions that are uniquely suited to workplace protection scenarios and meet the different requirements of occupational health protection. Palas® Fidas Frog and AQ Guard provide continuous and automatic monitoring of airborne particulates. The PMFT and MFP test rigs offer scientific solutions for laboratories to test efficiency of filter and respirator, as well as for identifying particulate matter occurrence, detection and size distribution. The Promo and U-SMPS (universal scanning mobility particle sizer) devices are available for use in inhalation-contaminated animal laboratories and laboratories that measure radioactive aerosol particles. In addition, Palas aerosol generators simulate and generate uniform and stable monodisperse or polydisperse test aerosol particle size distributions for solids and liquids, depending on the testing environment.

As an expert of aerosol particle monitoring and characterisation, Palas® applies its accurate monitoring technology and reliable measurement results to strongly support normalized pandemic prevention and control, as well as occupational health protection, with a view to benefiting more laboratories, research institutes, universities and enterprises.
