From August 13th to 15th, 2025, Palas® Southeast Asia Distributor Service Training was successfully held in Shanghai. Ms. Mara Brand, Head of Service of Palas® GmbH, flew in to lead a two-day-plus intensive operation and maintenance training on the Fidas® and AQ Guard Smart systems for sales partners from Vietnam, the Philippines, and Malaysia. Through an immersive “Theory + Hands-on” approach, the program seamlessly linked principles, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting, systematically strengthening the region’s service capabilities.
The training opened with a welcome by Mr. Ingo Wirth, Managing Director of Palas® China, who encouraged participants to turn their new skills into faster, more expert support for local customers. Ms. Brand then delivered a concise “warm-up” briefing, covering general Fidas® information, its service website, ticket system, videos, support case and so on for the formal course.
Two-Day Intensive training: Theory + Hands-on
- Day 1 – Fidas® system in Focus
Morning: Ms. Brand delivered a concise technical briefing and live demo, walking the group step by step through setup, calibration & 3-monthly maintenance, firmware update, protocols, data management, and data evaluation.
Afternoon: Distributors split into groups to set up, calibrate and hunt down “simulated faults” with diagnostic tools. Whenever questions or typical customer issues came up, everyone gathered around the instruments, dismantling and discussing on the spot, while Brand answered each query in turn, keeping the room buzzing with energy.
- Day 2 – AQ Guard Smart in the spotlight
Building on Day 1’s momentum, Ms. Brand opened with an Overview & Handling of service cases (SOPs) and advanced hardware/firmware diagnostics, then drilled into system settings and critical parameters. Armed with the previous day’s know-how, the teams were able to run diagnostics, and replace parts in one smooth motion, with the sound of “clicks” echoing throughout the site and efficiency doubling.
Certificate Award
As the training drew to a close, the certificate-awarding segment brought the atmosphere to its peak. Ms. Brand presented each distributor with a training qualification certificate and joined them for photos. This certificate signifies not only that their skills meet the standard, but also that, once back in their regions, they can independently carry out installation, calibration, and repairs—responding to customer needs immediately and minimizing downtime.
The successful implementation of this training was made possible thanks to the overall coordination of Mr. Maximilian Uebach, the product manager of Palas® who is responsible for market expansion in Southeast Asia. Mr. Uebach introduced that the Fidas® and AQ Guard Smart systems have been applied in multiple countries and industries in Southeast Asia:
- FIDAS® SYSTEM – Type Approved Fine Dust Analyzers:
- EN 16450 and EN 15267-1/2 approved by TÜV/UBA, Defra approved (MCERTS)
- Simultaneous measurements of PM₁, PM₂.₅, PM₄, PM₁₀, TSP, particle number & size distribution
- Suitable for the multiple needs of Southeast Asian countries, including regulatory monitoring of ambient air, scientific long-term studies, emission source apportionment
- AQ GUARD SMART SYSTEM – MCERTS Certified Air Quality Analyzer:
- Fine dust & particulate matter (PM₁, PM₂.₅, PM₄, PM₁₀, TSP, CN)
- Extendable with multiple gaseous pollutants (SO₂, NO₂, NO, O₃, CO, CO₂, Black carbon, NH3), as well as Noise Meters
