Less Emission, Much Greener

“2020 China Filter Industry Annual Conference— Innovation Development and Frontier Technology Summit Forum” opened successfully in Huzhou on December 24th. The theme this year is to respond to the full implementation of the “National VI Emission Standard” and to study the effectiveness of automotive air conditioning filters against COVID-19. Industry insiders from domestic automobile, whole machine and filter related companies, and scientific research institutes participated in this conference. Palas®, the expert of filtration efficiency test from Germany, was invited to attend the forum. Ms. Jun Deng, Environment and Automotive Business Development Manager, Mr. Eason Zhuang, Application and After-sales Service Manager, and Ms. Joyce Jiang, Marketing Communication Officer, together as the Palas® team discussed the automotive air conditioning filter industry and its development trend with other professionals on site.

In the conference, Ms. Li Guixin, Secretary General Assistant of China Association of Automobile Manufactures, and Mr. Xing Min, Secretary General of China Internal Combustion Engine Industry Association, both went through current situation of China’s automobile industry, and looked into the future of China’s internal combustion engine industry. Professor Baoku Zhu from Zhejiang University and Professor Shuzhan Bai from Shandong University gave a speech on the topic of “Polymer antibacterial agents and their applications in automotive air filters” and “Modern engine technology and its requirements for filtration” respectively.

At the forum, the Palas® team focused on HMT 1000 and SMPS, introducing their specific applications in the automotive filter industry, which cover the entire process of standard particle generation, dilution, and measurement. These widely used systems not only measure the filtration efficiency of the filter accurately, but also help calibrate other filtration measurement instruments. Besides, the components of the Palas® detection system can be flexibly disassembled and transported to the engine and other product test points in parts for assembling and measurement, which has attracted huge attention during the conference.

Different types of filters have different inspection standards to meet, and the key to controlling their quality is to test the filter material’s filtration efficiency accurately. For instance, engine intake air filters (ISO 5011 & ISO/TS 17913), cabin air filters (ISO 11155), ventilation equipment air filters (ISO 16890), high efficiency filters HEPA/ULPA (EN 1822) and other products have different inspection standards, which requires targeted filtration efficiency tests. With the rich technological development, MFP 3000 series test rig from Palas® can meet all these needs. The guests at the conference showed great interests in the precision of Palas® technology, and conducted in-depth communication and discussions with Palas® experts in detail.

Facing the new trends of the development in the automobile industry and the overall upgrade of automobile and internal combustion engine emission regulations, Palas® will continue to develop more test instruments to help improve filter efficiency and contribute to the automobile industry and environmental protection in the future.

In the Palas® (Shanghai) office, Palas® installed a demo lab in which you can check the functions of the SMPS and MFP 3000 series. Either you can come in person or Palas® will set up a video call, and Palas® experts will show you the functionalities of this test rig online in a live session.
