The finer management of air pollution is pursued step by step, which requires instruments to monitor various emission sources steadily. The strong mobility of navigation monitoring can help to grasp the dynamic spatial particle distribution and other pollution data in different parts of the city. So, navigation monitoring has gradually become the ideal choice for air pollution management. How does Palas® stand out from the crowd of navigation monitors?
Compared with traditional devices, Palas® Fidas® 200 Smart ambient air quality continuous monitoring system has innovative scattered light measurement on single particles. The technical support service of the Palas® team has also contributed to the cooperation between Zhongyao Environment (Xi’an) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Zhongyao Environment) and Palas®. Adhering to the concept of cooperation and progress, Palas® will work with partners to improve urban navigation monitoring and protect the urban environment.
The choice of cooperation
Zhongyao Environment has been deeply involved in the field of environmental monitoring and analysis, providing solutions for environmental improvement. Before this cooperation, Zhongyao Environment faced difficulties such as high cost of navigation devices and uncontrolled monitoring results. However, Zhongyao Environment contacted Palas® through multiple inquiries and the Palas® Fidas® 200 ambient air quality continuous monitoring system not only has excellent particle monitoring performance but also its low maintenance can also help achieve good cost-effectiveness. The vehicle equipped with Fidas® 200 Smart can simultaneously monitor the real-time concentrations of PM2.5 and PM10. It can also monitor some meteorological data, such as humidity, temperature and pressure. The Palas® team provided strong technical support and service for Zhongyao Environment. The customized Palas® solution also made the navigation monitoring to have ideal results.
Visualization of urban air quality
The Palas® navigation car equipped with Fidas® 200 Smart conducted navigation monitoring from the target city to the national highway and designated streets. The fixed-point monitoring of expressways and bus stations were also done by Palas®. The monitoring data from Palas® made the particulate matter situation immediately clear.
Higher concentrations of PM2.5 and PM10 were found at street and lane intersections with high traffic. Most of them are caused by dust from construction sites, exhaust emissions from heavy vehicles, and open burning of biomass by residents. From the fixed-point monitoring data provided by Fidas® 200 Smart, it can be known that the exhaust emissions and dust caused by heavy vehicles will lead to an increase in the concentration of particulate matter. Among them, the pollution at the intersection of highways is relatively serious. The concentration of PM10 was between 100-300 µg/m3.
Thanks to the support of Palas® atmospheric navigation vehicle, Zhongyao Environment also put forward valuable suggestions on the atmospheric governance to help further create a high-quality urban environment. Palas® will continue to work hand in hand with partners to protect the clean urban air.
Palas® Fidas® 200 Smart ambient air quality continuous monitoring system
The Fidas® series of aerosol spectrometers for single particle size distribution from Palas® are based on optical scattered light measurement on single particles, which has been protected by several patents. It is based on the patented T-aperture technique, which generates a T-shaped three-dimensional measurement volume that effectively identifies border zone errors and compensates coincident readings. The Fidas® 200 series uses a white light source for better durability and low maintenance for cost effectiveness.
Advantages
· Fidas® 200 series based on TÜV Rheinland certification and MCERTS certification in the UK, better suited to the Chinese environment
· Continuous and simultaneous real-time measurement of multiple PM values
· Detailed information based on particle size distribution
· High temporal resolution, data refreshed every second
· Low maintenance and consumables
Applications
· Compliance monitoring in monitoring networks
· Particle characterization scientific research
· Mobile navigation monitoring
· Particulate matter dispersion studies (e.g., fires, volcanoes)
AQ Guard Smart Grid Monitor for Ambient Air Quality
Optional data cloud platform, plug and play, real-time viewing of hotspot data:
AQ Guard Smart is a robust aerosol spectrometer for ambient air. It uses the measurement principle of optical scattered light measurement on single particles based on the technology of the EN 16450 certified Fidas® 200. It can be upgraded with a gas sensor package (SO2, CO, NO2, O3) thus offering optimal options for evaluating the air quality. AQ Guard Smart can be operated over longer periods without recalibration. Deviations in the particle size determination and, therefore drifts of the PM values, are determined by a specific analysis of the particle size distribution and displayed and reported when a tolerance threshold is exceeded as part of the self-monitoring. AQ Guard Smart transmits measurement data via Palas® MyAtmosphere and when operating alone, the system can be operated by an external battery with or without solar support.
Advantages
· Technology based on the certified Fidas® 200 series (EN16450 and MCERTS), easy and fast installation
· Configuration via Wi-Fi hotspot, remote, external touchpad
· Communication via GPRS / 3G / 4G / Ethernet / Wi-Fi
· Expandable with weather station / external battery / solar
· Simultaneous measurement of Cn, PM1, PM5, PM4, PM10 with high temporal resolution
· Particle measurement range from 0.175 – 20,000 nm up to 100 mg/m³ mass concentration or 20,000 particle/cm³ (single particle analysis)
· Continuous and simultaneous real-time measurement in second-by-second resolution
· Visualization of the measured data in real time and their course
· Data and parameters can be subsequently evaluated with Palas® PDAnalyze software
· Real-time transfer of measured data without post-processing or adjustment
Applications
· Industry:
– Production processes
– Bulk material handling (mixing, discharge, storage, packaging, etc.)
– Fence line Monitoring
· Construction sites: roads, railroads, demolition sites
· Buildings: schools, kindergartens, hospitals, hotels, offices, public service buildings
· Residential buildings near construction sites or other polluted areas
· Public transportation: airports, train stations, tramway & underground stations, cruise ships, passenger cabin, e.g. in tram, train
