At the beginning of August 2023, the Senior Training Course for Young and Middle-aged Professionals and Technicians in Occupational Health (Phase I) sponsored by the National Center for Occupational Safety and Health, NHC was successfully held in Beijing. The meeting aims to strengthen the training of technical personnel engaged in personal protective equipment testing and inspection, performance evaluation, technology research and development, and policy and standard research, covering personal protective related policies and standards, with special focus on personal protective equipment and its performance testing and evaluation. Palas®, as an advanced aerosol particle measurement expert, was invited to participate in the conference and brought the PMFT 1000 F protective mask filter test solution to the industry experts, helping to provide technical support for the particulate protection performance testing and inspection of various respiratory protective equipment.
Individual protective equipment plays an important role in the protection of staff from harmful substances, especially in the workplace inhalable toxic and hazardous substances, including particulate matter and gas two categories, of which particulate matter can also be divided into dust (sewing, grinding, crushing, sand blowing and other workplaces are more common), smoke (welding, brazing, smelting, kilns and other workplaces are more common), fog (spray paint, metal spraying and plating, etc.) and microorganisms (hospitals, biological laboratories, etc.), so respiratory protection equipment is an important part of occupational safety. At the conference, Palas® introduced the PMFT 1000 F Respiratory Protective Equipment Filter Performance Test Rig, which is capable of testing and verifying the filtration performance of various types of respirator filters, masks and filter media for particulate protection, providing filter performance tests based on various criteria such as quantity concentration, mass concentration, pressure drop, etc., and accurately analyzing particle size in the range of 145 nm to 5 μm. It also accurately analyzes the grading filtration efficiency in the range of 145nm to 5μm particle size, etc., which has gained the attention of many professionals.
The PMFT 1000 F tests respiratory protection particle filter better than the standards EN 143, ISO 16900-3, and NIOSH 42 CFR 84 with additional accurate analysis of filter mask efficiency for SARS-CoV-2 (size approximately 120 nm to 160 nm). In addition, testing face masks based on EN 149/ISO 13274-7 standards is possible. Both total photometric penetration and fractional efficiency are tested, e.g., the efficiency in the whole size range, respectively, the particle size-dependent penetration.
The measurement of total penetration and penetration via particle size is carried out with the high-precision aerosol photometer Promo® LED 2300. An automatic switch allows efficiency measurements without dilution up to 99.9995 %. The PMFT 1000 F is equipped with aerosol generators for measuring penetration with oil and salt. Measurement procedures for quick quality control (short test) or testing according to standard (exposure test) are supplied. Corona discharge with CD 2000 A is integrated. Operation and automatic printout of the measurement results are therefore easy, even for inexperienced users.
The Senior Training Course for Young and Middle-aged Professionals and Technicians in Occupational Health is a professional conference for sharing and exchanging knowledge on occupational health protection. Palas®, as a participating company, provides an advanced, reliable, and efficient testing solution for industry professionals by promoting the PMFT 1000 F Protective Mask Filter Test Rig. It helps to a better testing and evaluation of personal protective equipment, and to the enhancement of the level of occupational health protection contributing to improve the level of occupational health protection and ensure the health and safety of workers.
