On November 16, China Filter Industry Annual Conference and Forum on Innovative Development and Cutting-edge Technology in 2023, organized by China Internal Combustion Engine Industry Association (CIECA) Filter Branch, was successfully held in Nanjing. The theme of the meeting was “Insight into Core Trend and Climbing to the Core Summit”, focusing on the future development of the new generation of internal combustion engines with high efficiency, low carbon, and near-zero emission.
The forum brought together domestic automobile, engine and filter industry-related enterprises, research institutes and universities and other industry experts. Participants focused on traditional, alternative fuel and new energy-powered automobiles, internal combustion engines, as well as the technological development of the filter industry to carry out in-depth discussions, and jointly promote the transformation and upgrading of China’s filter industry and technological progress. Palas® made a wonderful appearance as a sponsor in this conference, providing strong technical support for the upgrading of the filter industry with its advanced filter measurement technology and innovative solutions.
Palas®: 40 Years of Successful Experience from Germany
In his opening speech, Mr. Michael P. Wolf, Managing Director of Palas®, shared that Palas® Germany was founded in 1983 and has accumulated 40 years of successful experience in the industry, and introduced a range of Palas® solutions for filter and media testing. As an expert in aerosol measurement technology, Palas® has grown globally by more than 25% per annum over the past 10 years and has set up offices in Hong Kong and Shanghai in 2020 to better serve the Greater China and Southeast Asia markets. He also highlighted the success at Electrolux – the world’s first Palas® FET Dual airborne Filter filtration performance test rig has been installed and tested for the customer, helping them to offer more competitive products.
An in-depth analysis of the importance of filtration testing
The topic speech by Mr. Xuefeng Wang, Sales Manager – Industry & Science of Palas® China, provided an in-depth explanation of Palas® Filtration Performance Testing Solutions and the Importance of In-Situ Measurement of Aerosol Particles. Common challenges during aerosol particle measurement have been mentioned in this speech: e.g. medium and high number concentration and large particle measurement, aerosol measurement at high temperature and/or overpressure conditions. For such difficulties in aerosol measurement, how unique Palas solution can help end user to achieve accurate result, specially the “Isothermal Sampling and Measuring System” from Palas to ensure the accuracy of fractional efficiency measurement for oil mist separator.

Meanwhile, Mr. Xuefeng Wang also shared a lot of applications:
· Palas Promo 3000 working with FTControl software can help customer to establish capabilities of fractional efficiency on their existing testing system.
· The HMT 1000 crankcase ventilation oil mist separator filtration test system supports isothermal sampling measurement up to 120°C and can complete active oil fractional efficiency test at under pressure.
· The HMT Portable mobile engine bench particulate filtration test system realizes in-situ measurement of oil mist separator filtration efficiency of the engine, and isothermal sampling measurement up to 120°C at the same time.
· The DFP 3000 Natural gas/compressed air filter test system performs isothermal and isobaric testing at up to 7 bar and 80°C, suitable for all types of filters and filter media which works at overpressure condition.
In addition, Palas® FET System & LFT System provides Filter filtration performance testing solutions that support customized testing according to various standards such as ISO 16890, ASHRAE 52.2, ISO 11155, ISO 5011, ISO 29463-4/-5, etc., and cover the range of classification efficiency particle sizes from 0.02 μm to 40 μm, providing a flexible, efficient and reliable testing solution with imported technology from Germany, Efficient and reliable testing program, and imported technology from Germany. This series of advanced testing systems provides strong support for the technological upgrading of China’s filter industry.
Innovative Instrument Showing onsite
At the exhibition site, Promo® Aerosol Particle Size Spectrometer and RBG Dust Aerosol Generator attracted many filtration industry professionals to consult and negotiate at the booth. Promo® Series Particle Size Spectrometer is a single-particle particle light scattering aerosol particle size spectrometer, which evaluates and displays in real time the current particle size distribution, number concentration and other statistical values by measuring the time of flight of the particles and the light scattering signals. On the other hand, the RBG series aerosol generators are suitable for research, development and quality control of calibration test benches for particulate matter measurement equipment by utilizing low concentration aerosols of solid particulate matter produced by dusts and powders.
The forum provided a valuable communication and discussion platform for professionals in the filter industry. Palas® will continue to provide more advanced solutions for the filter industry in the new energy era, driven by innovative science and technology, and help China’s filter industry continue to move towards a new peak.
Palas® regularly conducts webinars on a variety of topics to pass on its expertise in aerosol measurement technology, which are presented in detail online by Palas® technical experts and industry scholars from around the world. Register for the webinar and get the information as soon as possible!
