Topic Speech

Particle measurement instruments which in accordance with ISO 21501-1 (e.g. Optical Aerosol Spectrometer) is commonly used to measure particle size and number concentration in gases. But most of them are only suitable for measurement in ambient temperature and pressure conditions and only available for non-flammable and explosive gases.

In this presentation, Palas® will show:

  1. Measurement of particle size distribution of flammable and explosive gases at up to 10bar.
  2. On-line monitoring number concentration and mass concentration of particle at much higher pressure (e.g. up to 50bar).

AQ Guard Smart Grid Monitor for Ambient Air Quality

AQ Guard Smart is a robust aerosol spectrometer for ambient air. It uses the measurement principle of optical scattered light measurement on single particles based on the technology of the EN 16450 certified Fidas® 200. It can be upgraded with a gas sensor package (SO2, CO, NO2, O3) thus offering optimal options for evaluating the air quality. AQ Guard Smart can be operated over longer periods without recalibration. Deviations in the particle size determination and, therefore drifts of the PM values, are determined by a specific analysis of the particle size distribution, and displayed and reported when a tolerance threshold is exceeded as part of the self-monitoring. AQ Guard Smart transmits measurement data via Palas® MyAtmosphere and when operating alone, the system can be operated by an external battery with or without solar support.

Promo® Aerosol Spectrometer

The unique design of the Palas® Promo® Particle size spectrometer series enables it to reach the maximum concentration of 106 particles/cm3 particles without the need for a dilution system. 256 original sampling channels can output up to 128 channels of particle size distribution information. Replaceable sensors make the device more flexible and suitable for different scenarios. High temperature and high-pressure sensors are available, allowing up to 10 bar pressures and temperatures from -120 ° C to 470 ° C. RBG Aerosol Generator

The generation of low concentration solid particulate aerosols from dusts and powders is suitable for many applications such as research, development and quality control of calibration test rigs for particulate measurement equipment. The stability of the generator in terms of single shot dust production and lower feed rates are necessary for the generation of low concentration solid particulate aerosols. In addition, the reproducibility of the aerosol generation process must be ensured, and the RBG system meets these requirements in the mass flow range of 0.04 g/h – 800 g/h. For mass flow rates from 40 mg/h to 800 g/h, the three new aerosol generators RBG professional, RBG basic and RBG solo fulfill the requirements from research to quality assurance and calibration. The feeding of storage vessels filled with dust or powder is provided by advanced stepper motor technology to ensure precise feeding to the dispersing brush over a wide mass range.
