In February 2026, the Palas Fidas 200 Smart Ambient Particulate Matter (PM₁₀ and PM₂.₅) Continuous Automatic Monitoring System passed the certification test conducted by the China National Environmental Monitoring Centre (CNEMC), obtaining Instrument Applicability Test Report No. CNEMC-QC-2026-020. This marks the second time the product has passed the test in accordance with the HJ 653-2021 standard, following the entrusted test report obtained in June 2024.

This test came at a significant moment—the newly revised Ambient Air Quality Standard (GB 3095-2026) took effect on March 1, 2026, officially incorporating light scattering as a standard method for particulate matter monitoring. The successful test results of the Fidas 200 Smart provide a reliable option for monitoring networks at all levels in their adoption of next-generation, more convenient technologies, supporting the digital and intelligent transformation of monitoring networks. Additionally, the lower maintenance frequency of the Fidas 200 Smart helps effectively reduce human interference and operational costs.

Test Performance: Key Indicators Meet or Exceed Standard Requirements
The test was conducted in accordance with the Technical Requirements and Test Methods for Continuous Automatic Monitoring Systems for Ambient Particulate Matter (PM₁₀ and PM₂.₅) (HJ 653-2021), covering system composition, functional requirements, detection limit, flow test, reference method comparison, parallelism, and other indicators. The test result was qualified, with several key indicators demonstrating strong performance.
- Detection Limit: The PM₂.₅ detection limit is below 0.1 μg/m³, far superior to the standard limit of ≤2 μg/m³, enabling precise capture of low-concentration pollution for clean areas or high-precision monitoring needs.
- Parallelism: PM₁₀ parallelism is 6.4%, and PM₂.₅ parallelism is 5.5%, both outperforming standard requirements (PM₁₀ ≤10%, PM₂.₅ ≤15%), demonstrating excellent consistency across multiple units for network monitoring.
- Reference Method Comparison: In comparisons conducted across multiple seasons and regions in Beijing and Shenzhen, the instrument’s measurement data showed strong agreement with the manual reference method, with all indicators meeting the HJ 653-2021 standard requirements, validating its stability and data accuracy under complex environmental conditions.

Technical Advantages: Single-Particle Counting Aerosol Spectrometer
The Fidas 200 Smart is a Single-Particle Counting Aerosol Spectrometer (SPADS) that utilizes 90° light scattering and a multi-color LED light source, combined with a T-shaped optical path design, to achieve accurate counting and particle size analysis of individual particles, providing real-time particle size distribution spectra.
Key Features:
- Continuous and simultaneous real-time measurement of multiple PM values, effectively addressing the “inversion” phenomenon
- High temporal resolution with data refreshed every second
- On-site calibration using standard particles
- Maintenance once every three months, with low maintenance requirements and low consumable usage
