Palas® presents at SGS Filtration Technology Seminar: Focusing on Particle Measurement in AHAM AC-1 Cigarette Tests

On June 4, 2025, “Clean Air, Filter the Future – The 4th SGS IBR Filtration Technology Seminar” was successfully held in Ningbo. As a professional event in the filtration industry, this seminar focuses on trends, standards, regulations and market challenges in the field of air purification and filtration technology, and attracted more than a hundred experts, scholars and company representatives from the air purifier industry and the filter manufacturing industry to attend. At the conference, Palas®, an expert in aerosol measurement technology, demonstrated its innovative solution to measure particulate matter in the AHAM AC-1 cigarette test using the Promo 1000 aerosol particle size Spectrometer, which became a highlight of the seminar.

In the speech “PALAS – Alternative of Measurement Instrument for AHAM AC-1”, Mr. Linus Wang, Sales Manager – Industry & Science of Palas® China, provided a detailed introduction to the application of the Palas® Promo 1000 aerosol spectrometer in cigarette testing. He pointed out that the device is capable of providing highly precise and stable particle measurement data, especially when dealing with high-concentration particle tests. Mr. Wang also shared the multiple comparison results between the Palas® Promo 1000 and the recommended standard equipment at different customer sites. These results demonstrate its advantages in measurement accuracy and data consistency, and also show that the test results of this solution meet the requirement of ±10 CADR (cfm) deviation for comparing CADR values among different organizations.

In addition, he offered valuable insights and solutions for potential issues that may arise during actual testing, providing significant references for the attendees.

At the conference, the Palas® Promo aerosol particle size spectrometer was also showcased onsite, attracting the close attention of the attendees. Among them, the Promo 1000 is equipped with the VKL 10 dilution system, providing a comprehensive solution for CADR cigarette tests, strictly meeting the standards AHAM AC-1 & IEC 63086-2-1. Its advantages include:

  • High comparability of results (with recommended instruments)
  • Lead Time within Three Months
  • High Performance Price Ratio
  • Low Failure Rate and capability of local service

In addition, the Palas® FET series of filtration performance testing system support customization according to different standards and cover multiple fields:

  • HVAC: ISO 16890, ASHRAE 52.2
  • Automotive: ISO 11155, ISO 5011
  • HEPA: ISO 29463-4/5 (EN 1822-4/5)

The system features a fractional efficiency particle size range of 0.01μm – 40μm (customizable according to user needs), supports various test media and dust-holding capacity tests, and offers flexible expansion capabilities covering particle size ranges and aerosol media, meeting the diverse needs of different customers.

The successful hosting of this SGS filtration technology seminar provided an efficient communication platform for professionals in the filtration field. Through this event, Palas® showcased its strong technical capabilities in particle measurement and filtration performance testing. In the future, Palas® will continue to work hand in hand with industry partners, drive development through innovation, and jointly contribute ideas for the sustainable development of the filtration industry, pushing filtration technology to new heights.
