At the 13th Asian Aerosol Conference (AAC) 2024 in Malaysia, Palas\u00ae, as a silver sponsor, and together with our Southeast Asian sales partner, Keystone Instruments Corporation, brought attendees a series of exciting speeches, research presentations and interactive experiences. The conference brings together scientists, researchers, industry experts and policy makers in the field of aerosols to discuss new advances in aerosol science. With the acceleration of industrialization and environmental challenges in Southeast Asia, the demand for precision aerosol monitoring technology is increasing. Palas\u00ae effectively meets this market demand with its advanced aerosol monitoring equipment and successful applications in various industries. Through close collaboration with local partners in Southeast Asia, Palas\u00ae is able to respond quickly to customer needs, continuously improve service levels, and strive to provide customers with better products and services.<\/p>\n

Supporting academic research<\/strong><\/p>\n

Palas\u00ae has been supporting and promoting academic research in the field of aerosols by providing high-precision measurement equipment and technical support to help researchers explore in-depth the properties of aerosols and their impact on the environment and health, and so on. At AAC’s SE booth, Palas\u00ae showcased its new technologies and products, among which the AQ Guard ambient air quality monitor played a key role in Fudan University’s marine aerosol research. It not only overcame the variable and harsh environment at sea, but also provided the research team with accurate data on the mass concentration and particle size distribution of atmospheric particles with its advanced aerosol measurement technology.<\/p>\n

In addition, the research team at the College of Textiles, Donghua University, obtained a large amount of reliable dust loading data with the help of the Palas\u00ae MFP 3000 filter filtration test rig, explored the collision behavior of dust particles with fibrous media and established a high-fidelity numerical simulation model of dust filtration. The results of these studies were also presented orally at the conference, demonstrating once again the practical applications and contributions of Palas\u00ae in the field of scientific research, as well as its potential and possibilities in aerosol research.

In-depth presentations<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mr Henrik Hof, Environmental Product Manager of Palas\u00ae GmbH, gave an excellent presentation on \u201cEuropean Air Quality Directive Revision and Market trends \u2013 how SPADS Technologies fits and Application examples\u201d<\/strong> during the Pocket Talks session. Mr Hof shared the European experience in dealing with air pollution and the updated legislative guidelines, and how manufacturers are responding to these changes. He also elaborated on Palas\u00ae’s core technological strengths – Single Particle Aerosol Distribution Spectrometers (SPADS), which include the ability to accurately measure particle size distribution and concentration, as well as high-precision calibration curves to ensure accuracy and reliability of measurement results. Through these technologies, Palas\u00ae provides a powerful tool for aerosol research, which has been successfully applied in many important fields such as environment, health, filtration, nanotechnology, etc., helping scientists and researchers to better understand and solve the technical challenges of aerosol measurement.<\/p>\n

During the AAC abstract oral presentation, Mr Hof also shared the results of two studies highlighting the important role of Palas\u00ae instruments in accurately monitoring and analyzing aerosols, contributing important data to environmental health and climate change research.<\/p>\n

The first focused on the Study of Aerosol size distribution – comparison of volcanic ashes and Sahara dust and its spatial variety on La Palma island. During the 2021 volcanic activity, the Palas\u00ae team deployed nine AQ Guard Smart aerosol spectrometers on the island, which monitored the concentration of aerosols and particulate matter. The study found that wind direction determined local differences in particulate matter, particularly significant differences between the east and west sides of the island. The size distribution of volcanic ash is coarser than that of dust, a finding that is crucial for understanding the transport of aerosols through the atmosphere.<\/p>\n

The second study, carried out at a major seaport in southern Italy, aimed to measure fine dust and ultrafine particles in the air to identify sources of pollution. The research team used AQ Guard Smart 1100 and AQ Guard Smart 2000 devices to analyze the size distribution and concentration of fine dust and nanoparticles. The study was able to identify multiple emission sources and assess their impact on air quality, providing a scientific basis for managing air pollution in the harbor.<\/p>\n
