This move advanced the field of large-scale compressed air filter testing. Before that, the IUTA was only able to test smaller filters. How did the IUTA do that?<\/p>\n<p>In cooperation with Ehrler Pr\u00fcftechnik Engineering, Palas\u00ae has optimized the compressed air filter test rig of the IUTA. Several Palas\u00ae aerosol spectrometers and generators were used for the test rig. Under the motto \u201c Circulation concept increases energy efficiency\u201d, Palas\u00ae with its partner raised the volume flow rate from 50 m<sup>3<\/sup>\/h to 3000 m<sup>3<\/sup>\/h. The progress in the field of filtration testing has been witnessed together.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Compressed air filter testing needs a breakthrough<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The application-oriented IUTA focuses on environmental sustainability, energy supply, etc. It was awarded the title of \u201csite of progress\u201d. Large-scale compressed air filter testing has wide market demand, as such filters are widely used in many sectors, including automotive, food and pharmaceutical industries. However, before the change made by Palas\u00ae, the IUTA could only test smaller filters with volume flow rates of up to 50 m\u00b3\/h. Conclusions by analogy had to be used to deduce the performance of large filters with volume flow rates up to 60 times greater than that. In addition, energy consumption was also a major challenge, and a breakthrough in the field of compressed air filter testing was needed in many ways.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Circulation concept increases energy efficiency<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Under the motto of circulation, Palas\u00ae and Ehrler Pr\u00fcftechnik Engineering suggested that the IUTA could pump the circulation up to 8 bar and use additional inline blower fans to ensure that the pre-compressed air is fed into the circular flow. Dr. Wolfgang M\u00f6lter-Siemens, manager of the Air Purification and Filtration division said, \u201cIf you compress a volume flow of 3,000 m\u00b3\/h and expand it again, you\u2019ll need 360 kW, but \u00a0the circulation principle provided by Palas\u00ae reduces the energy needed to 25 \u2013 30 kW.\u201d The test rig made use of <a href=\"https:\/\/palas.com.cn\/en\/aerosol-spectrometry\/\"><strong>Palas\u00ae welas\u00ae digital 1000 P Aerosol Spectrometer<\/strong> <\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/palas.com.cn\/en\/aerosol-generation\/\"><strong>Palas\u00ae PLG 3000<\/strong> <strong>Aerosol Generator<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0for the fractional separation efficiency. <a href=\"https:\/\/palas.com.cn\/en\/product\/agf-3000\/\"><strong>Palas\u00ae AGF 3000<\/strong> <\/a><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/palas.com.cn\/en\/product\/agf-3000\/\">Aerosol Generator<\/a> <\/strong>was for the charge concentration. Palas\u00ae aerosol generators charged the compressed air filters with droplets of compressor oil, thus simulating the contamination of the compressed air. And then the IUTA used software from Palas\u00ae to evaluate the data. The IUTA test rig stored data for a long time. It automatically calculated the fractional separation efficiency and indicated factors such as particle size distribution and mass concentration. Dr. Wolfgang M\u00f6lter-Siemens also appreciated its user-friendliness and versatility.
