When it comes to measuring the fraction separation efficiency and the MPPS of HEPA\/ULPA filters by following EN 1822-3, the laboratory encountered a challenge. Because the data provided by most filter media test rigs is based on the particle\u2019s mass concentration. It does not contain information on particle size, neither on MPPS. However, EN 1822-3 and ISO 29463-3 for HEPA\/ULPA filters both require the measurement of fraction separation efficiency, meaning the particle number-based filtration efficiency under different particle sizes. In addition, the scatter-light test rigs cannot measure the 100 nm-smaller particles, and the resolution of the particle size channel is relatively low.
