Enabling mobile monitoring is of increasing value

Nowadays, people are paying more and more attention to air quality. This requires air quality monitoring equipment that ensures the stability of measurement data while accommodating different measurement environments. Palas® AQ Guard is a compact, automatic system for continuous monitoring of fine dust in ambient air. It has advanced aerosol measurement technology and the function that can be used for real-time monitoring in moving vehicles. The National Environmental Monitoring Centre of China (CNEMC) and the Shanghai Environmental Monitoring Centre (SEMC), which are responsible for monitoring air quality at major events, have successively chosen the AQ Guard Ambient as their navigation monitoring device.

Palas® AQ Guard – officially trusted choice for Paralympic Games

When the China National Environmental Monitoring Center needed a moving vehicle for real-time monitoring during the Winter and Paralympic Games, they chose the easy-to-install, plug-in AQ Guard Ambient. The AQ Guard Ambient has a compact design. It can easily be installed in a car for mobile ambient air monitoring. Not only does it meet the monitoring data requirements, but it does not require any physical reconfiguration of the existing vehicles. In just a few days, the device was installed and successfully connected to the China National Environmental Monitoring Center’s data platform. The reason why the Palas® AQ Guard air quality monitor was selected for this support mission is that the high temporal resolution of the device meets the navigation monitoring requirements during the support period. At the same time, the mass and number concentrations of particulate matter can be displayed in real time. By using Palas® single particle aerosol particle size distribution spectrometer technology, CNEMC can also detect the particle size distribution of the most important particles, opening up new possibilities in the field of air quality analysis. Air monitoring equipment locates air particles

The Shanghai Environmental Monitoring Centre (SEMC) enjoys the highest recognition in the country for its progressive work. The facility is responsible for monitoring the city’s environmental quality and emission sources, water, atmosphere, ecological and biological environment. It is also an information and training centre for the Shanghai Environmental Monitoring Department. For SEMC researchers, measuring the number of particles in the air is a routine procedure. With the Palas® AQ Guard technology, they also had the opportunity to see what particle size is prevalent in the air. And on top of that: The Palas® AQ Guard refreshes the data every second. This means: in combination with the installed camera, the researchers were able to see where the increase in particles could come from. This is a crucial advance in air quality analysis. A game-changer in real-time monitoring

AQ Guard, currently the most advanced compact analyzer for determining ambient air quality, continuously and reliably analyses airborne fine dust particles in the range 175 nm – 20 µm. A newly developed mass conversion algorithm calculates PM values based on single particle optical light scattering, taking signal duration and shape into account. Sensor system and algorithms were developed based on the technology of the EN 16450 certified Fidas® 200.

AQ Guard Ambient has fast data interfaces and allows real-time access via Ethernet, WiFi or mobile network. As all results are calculated and recorded within the analyser, no external data processing, e.g. through cloud computing, is required. Users retain full control over their data and decide how to access the information. AQ Guard can provide numerical data using various communication protocols and visualise information on any type of device via a modern web interface.

Palas® is about to launch the new AQ Guard smart, stay tuned!
