Palas® Introduces New PMFT 1000 F Mask Filter Test Rig

The new coronavirus is mainly transmitted through droplets in the air we breathe, aerosols and close contact. Being in a relatively confined space or coming into close contact increases the risk of infection. Therefore, wearing masks that meet specifications is an effective way to prevent respiratory infectious diseases. Quality assessment of masks requires reliable monitoring of mask filter performance. The new PMFT 1000 F from Palas® has all the features of the PMFT series and complies with EN 143, ISO 16900-3 and NIOSH 42 CFR 84 standards for face mask filter testing. Reliable testing of masks and filter materials provides accurate monitoring results and ensures product quality.

Certification by an independent testing agency

TÜV NORD CERT is a surveillance and certification service and an independent testing body for certified dust masks (CE 0044). The test was carried out in the mask testing laboratory of the TÜV NORD subsidiary (DMT) in accordance with the EN 149 standard and the corresponding EN 13274-7 measurement method. The filtration performance of the PMFT 1000 M series mask filtration test rig was measured comparatively in cooperation with the particle monitoring specialist Palas®. The results of this measurement show that the penetration measured by PMFT 1000M is in agreement with the results of the TÜV NORD CERT respiratory protection testing body, so that production standards in accordance with regulations can be achieved by using the PMFT 1000M series mask filtration test rig as an instrument for monitoring filtration performance. The PMFT 1000 F is an upgrade to the PMFT 1000 M. The detection efficiency of the respiratory mask filter is as high as 99.9995% and the penetration rate is 0.0005%. The test performance is very excellent. Click here to find out more about the comparative measurement test by TÜV NORD CERT comparative measurement experiment.

Future-proof Palas® technology

The new PMFT1000F filter material test bench launched by Palas® this time is an all-rounder capable of testing the filtration performance of almost all types of masks and filter materials. Also has:

  1. All-round model, covering all the functions of the PMFT series, and taking into account the standards of multiple protective mask filter tests。
  2. The integrated corona discharge system CD 2000 B and temperature/humidity sensor meets NIOSH 42 CFR 84 testing requirements.
  3. Threaded Rd 40 x 1/7″ filter adapter to EN 148-1 (interchangeable with mask holder or flat media grill).
  4. Equipped with two VKL 27 diluents combined with switching device (dilution-no dilution), it can measure filters with an efficiency of up to 99.9995%.

Palas® proven technology allows the counting of particles of very small sizes. The device can detect and measure in the size range of viruses and bacteria. Both total penetration and fractional efficiency are tested e. g., the efficiency in the whole size range respectively the particle size-dependent penetration. The PMFT is future-proof: It works with salt, oil and latex aerosols when measuring penetration. It is also capable of measuring differential pressure at various breathing resistances. Thanks to the individual filter adapter, PMFT can be used for all kinds of protective masks and is also easy to handle.
