Two Highlights Make Qingdao University Choose Palas® Again

MFP filter test rigs from Palas® have been widely recognized by university research teams, and Qingdao University is one of them. After the Palas® MFP 3000 G was praised by the College of Physics, the university’s State Key Laboratory of Bio-Fibers and Eco-Textiles chose again the Palas® MFP Nano plus HEPA/ULPA Filter Media Test Rig — thanks to its measurement of fraction separation efficiency in the 15 nm to 300 nm size range and accurate determination of most penetrating particle size (MPPS). Palas® will continue to help Qingdao University face the challenges of filtration tests and promote further scientific research in the future.

Challenge of filtration tests for universities

The State Key Laboratory of Bio-Fibers and Eco-Textiles is the driving force of the Shandong textile industry. When it comes to measuring the fraction separation efficiency and the MPPS of HEPA/ULPA filters by following EN 1822-3, the laboratory encountered a challenge. Because the data provided by most filter media test rigs is based on the particle’s mass concentration. It does not contain information on particle size, neither on MPPS. However, EN 1822-3 and ISO 29463-3 for HEPA/ULPA filters both require the measurement of fraction separation efficiency, meaning the particle number-based filtration efficiency under different particle sizes. In addition, the scatter-light test rigs cannot measure the 100 nm-smaller particles, and the resolution of the particle size channel is relatively low. Normally, the MPPS of common air filter media range is between 30 nm and 300 nm, so only an instrument that can perform well within the core range can help the Qingdao University laboratory meet the challenge.

Palas® solution helps solve smoothly

In response to the requirements from Qingdao University, Palas® arranged onsite inspection, timely communication and provided Palas® MFP Nano plus Filter Media Test Rig as solution. In accordance with EN 1822-3 and ISO 29463-3, the Palas® MFP Nano plus is equipped with U-SMPS for fraction separation efficiency test ranging from 15 nm to 300 nm. In addition, the MFP Nano plus provides up-to-42 particle size channels in that core size range with powerful Palas® hardware and software combination. This further enables accurate determination of the location of MPPS.

Palas® ‘s knowledge of HEPA/ULPA filters and localized after-sales service add significant value to the Palas® MFP Nano plus Filter Media Test Rig. The state key laboratory of Qingdao University finally chose Palas® MFP Nano plus after consideration. The lab also recoginized the Palas® solution in the actual application process. Palas® will continue to provide proven and reliable solutions for HEPA/ULPA filter filtration research.
