Preferred Choice for Mobile Ambient Air Monitoring in Cities

With the beginning of the central heating in northern areas, air pollution has increased and urban air quality has become more and more of a concern. The complexity of the urban layout requires a navigation monitoring instrument that ensures the accuracy and stability of measurement data while accommodating diversified environments. Palas® instruments are widely used in urban air quality monitoring in China because they have outstanding advantages of accurate measurement and flexible use. Recently, Palas® AQ Guard Smart Grid Monitor for Ambient Air Quality helped the joint prevention and control for heavy pollution in Beijing. Before that, the Shanghai Environmental Monitoring Centre (SEMC) and the National Environmental Monitoring Centre of China (CNEMC) have successively chosen the Palas® AQ Guard Ambient for Ambient Air Monitoring.

Enable mobile monitoring against winter air pollution

Since the arrival of winter, air pollution in various cities has become worse due to factors such as increasing coal burning and unfavorable weather conditions. In order to improve the urban air environment, several cities have carried out air pollution monitoring work. This year, Palas® AQ Guard Smart Grid Monitor for Ambient Air Quality was used for Beijing joint prevention and control for heavy pollution. AQ Guard Smart Grid Monitor for Ambient Air Quality can refresh the data every second and it has a very sharp response to the mass concentrations of particulate matter around it. Vehicles equipped with this instrument are able to measure in real-time and find anomalies at any time. Meanwhile, its minimum particle size measurement is 180nm. The accurate information of particle size helps the researchers see the potential source of the increasing particles. In addition, this monitoring instrument is flexible in configuration and easy to maintain. A variety of models are suitable for different mobile applications. It helped the joint prevention and control for heavy pollution in Beijing be completed successfully.

Multi-party trusted choice

Before Palas® launched the new AQ Guard Smart Grid Monitor for Ambient Air Quality, several environmental monitoring centres had chosed the AQ Guard Ambient for Ambient Air Monitoring.

The Shanghai Environmental Monitoring Centre (SEMC) enjoys the highest recognition in the country for its advanced work. The institution is responsible for monitoring the city’s environmental quality and emission sources. It chose to use AQ Guard Ambient to carry out a field test in the Shanghai 2021 autumn and winter special pollution operation. The experts from Palas® helped to fix the AQ Guard Ambient safely on the car. Then the instrument needed to be connected to the data platform of SEMC in real-time. The researchers started the ride, and what they saw impressed them greatly. Click here to learn more about the use of SEMC.

In 2022 March, CNEMC needed a moving vehicle for real-time monitoring during the Winter and Paralympic Games, they chose the easy-to-install, plug-in AQ Guard Ambient. Not only does it meet the monitoring data requirements, but it does not require any physical reconfiguration of the existing vehicles. And it helped ensure air quality throughout the Games. Reliable Palas® monitors

Palas® stable air quality monitors provide reliable, continuous and flexible measurements of particle concentration and distribution, being able to identify the causes of particle pollution and predict its dispersion. They can be used for mobile walk-away monitoring, particle emission dispersion studies and monitoring of safe working conditions. In addition, they are also helpful in monitoring the air quality at roadside locations, both temporarily or in a long-term, construction sites or industrial plants to help people face a variety of air pollution challenges.

Optional data cloud platform, plug and play, real-time viewing of hotspot data:

AQ Guard Smart is a robust aerosol spectrometer for ambient air. It uses the measurement principle of optical scattered light measurement on single particles based on the technology of the EN 16450 certified Fidas® 200. Can be upgraded with a gas sensor package (SO2, CO, NO2, O3) and thus offers optimum options for evaluating the air quality. AQ Guard Smart can be operated over longer periods without recalibration. Deviations in the particle size determination and, therefore drifts of the PM values, are determined by a specific analysis of the particle size distribution and displayed and reported when a tolerance threshold is exceeded as part of the self-monitoring. AQ Guard Smart transmits measurement data via Palas® MyAtmosphere; when operating alone, the system can be operated by an external battery with or without solar support.
